The Sonas Trio aspires to create connection through their music. Although originating from the different countries of Scotland and the Netherlands, they believe that music gives the power communicate and form friendship that transcends different cultures.
The Sonas Trio formed in the Netherlands shortly after Roanna Tait (violin) and Rachel Daniels (cello) graduated from their masters studies, when Frans Van Tuijl (piano) was looking to form a new group. After the first rehearsal it was clear, they loved playing together.
Their enthusiasm and energy to play music with each other, and their desire to cross cultural boundaries through music is reflected in their name. ‘Sonas Trio’ is a combination of the Latin ‘sonos’ (sound) and the Scots Gaelic ‘sonas’ (happiness). Their sound makes them happy, and therefore hopefully you too!
